Closing the Tabs (for now)

I am not surprised.

Disappointed, absolutely - but I've lived through so many instances of 'people voting against their own interests' that it really isn't a shock to see a red sweep. Hell, I have family members on my chicano side that are fervently pro Trump. I think the most sad and fascinating bits are the states that voted to codify abortion rights while also still voting for the GOP. The mental gymnastics there are astounding. Anyway.

There's going to be so much work to do in the future - be it helping trans or pregnant friends get across state lines, or organizing in your communities, or learning (importantly) to shut the fuck up and signal boost the needs of those who have less of a platform - but for right now a lot of us need to just close the tabs and make sure we get through the next few days.

It's cliché at this point but like, stay hydrated, take breaks from reading headlines. Don't be the deer that doesn't need to know what's happening 4,000 miles away because you can only control so much of your reaction to your surroundings.

This isn't so say the horrors aren't real. Capitalism and Empire are a ceaseless monster and the work is never finished - but we have to be as whole as we can in order to fight it.
