TALKIN SHIT
Not my finest entry in the series but I'm nothing if not a bird photo opportunist.
Speaking of - I'm pretty sure this is our resident red tail (we named them Tobias) but I can't be 100% certain since I don't have all the tells yet and only got these two very brief photos. The tail feather coloring though I think sells it? Would love to be wrong though! Like the whole poison ivy / berry thing, I'd love to be wrong and learn how to better tell things apart.
As a sidenote but tangentially related given the whole "knowing what bird is what", earlier in the summer I watched Listers, the "extreme birdwatcher" documentary and like...shit. That title doeos NOT do it justice.
It came across my radar last year via Laura Michet's blog and the premise alone of two stoners deciding to drop everything and spend a year traveling the U.S. in a minivan to "list" as many birds as possible (all while being 100% new to the process) was beautiful enough to get me in the door, but the documentary is so well filmed, the photography inserts of their documentation is beautiful, the editing and interstitials are astounding, like. To echo what Laura said, why the fuck is this just something you can watch free on Youtube?
Like, why could you (in theory) watch an entire award-worthy documentary about descent into birdwatching madness in an embed, right here on this blog??
Truly, the mysteries of the world shall continue to confound another day.
