It's Nice When Nature Visits
Every winter when we finally get some snow, one of my favorite things to do is go try to ID the animal prints we find in it.
More often than not it's a plethora of raccoon, bunny or squirrel with some groundhog or opossum mixed in but every now and then we get deer prints - and despite having wildlife cameras set up on the sides of the house, we've still never seen one doing the damn thing (read: cross our yard into the woods).
I've talked before about how we're really lucky with our immediate neighbor that we share the hill with, a person who will text you things like "DEER. OUTSIDE. GET YOUR CAMERA."
Well damn, he struck again.
They were moving pretty quickly and I wasn't ready with my settings so they're blurrier than I'd like but shit, there they are!! Broad daylight!
I was shooting through a window which I (like an idiot) tried to open so I could lift the screen and get a cleaner angle - but man they did not like that sound AT ALL and promptly fucked off lmao
Still! Mission accomplished. It's been four years and I finally got to see them in the yard!
Here's an unrelated end of blog parting shot of Lilith enjoying that we've reached fireplace season.
