I’ve had a busy week travelling, time to see how payment processor organization is goi…oh for fucks sake
this is just embarrassing, dude

The obvious mess is that people are calling for a boycott of Itch.io which like, functionally gains nothing (especially after a trans person of color working there was the subject of targeted harassment) and a LOT of the hate toward them has been severely conflated with gaps in reality, but the other thing I'm noticing is unrelated to games; Patreon increasingly policing artists who link out to their other platforms where some of the content might be NSFW. It's not that these artists are making NSFW art that's available on Patreon, it's that these artists have other platforms that have NSFW content and Patreon (at the behest of payment processors) are puritanically acting as censor.
I know this isn’t the first instance of this and predates all of the recent payment processor bullshit but it’s so fucking bonkers that Patreon can tell an artist on their platform they need to remove pieces of art deemed questionable from OTHER PLATFORMS ENTIRELY or their patreon account will be impacted.
I’m trying to think of a good real world analog here?? Like you aren’t allowed to sell fruit at a farmers market if the farmer’s market organizer doesn’t like the paint job at your farm’s building? Or maybe it's that you can't sell your fruits / veggies because they don't like that your farm also produces milk even if you're not selling the milk at the farmer's market?
I don't know man, it's weird and I don't like it.
