Mug Half Filled

A silly problem to have, but it's mine

A white mug with the face of a Nintendo Game Boy on it that is heat sensitive and shows a game of Super Mario land on it when heated; a white cat rests in the background

I've got this mug that was a present from my family. I love it. It makes me really happy because I drink a lot of coffee and I make a lot of music on gameboys and it was a really thoughtful present!!

It's heat sensitive so a full cup of coffee (or tea or other hot beverage, I'm not judging) means you'll get a full, lit-up gameboy screen with the indicator light on the left; it's Mario Land's title screen on one side with the Daisy convo on the other. Love it.

Due to the nature of what the heat-sensitive material is made of however, you can't microwave the mug - which has presented me with this weird conundrum that's like, stupid as shit but stick with me:

If I fill the mug with hot coffee I will get the full picture...but the coffee will likely be cold by the time I get to the bottom (or if I get busy with something and it cools naturally) and then my only recourse is to either top it off with more hot coffee, transfer to a microwave-safe container to reheat, or drink it cold.

Again, this is like the lamest problem but it comes up a lot because I drink a lot of coffee while working and I love this mug.

What I've found is that by pouring less coffee into the mug from the start, I rarely get to a point where it's cooled off to need any of the above three options. Instead, I take more trips to the kitchen for refills which encourages me to get up from my desk more while working and explore the house - light exercise, recaffeination, taking a momentary break from work - all good things! Hell yea! Since I started doing this I've had an overall better experience!

But now I never get to see the full picture

and I think it's important to be ok with that.
