Snowapple Says Good Morning
To the nuance of article removal
Man I don't even go here but in the wake of Waypoint removing articles its parent org was critical of, it's kind of bonkers to see this week's victory lap of people who openly harassed Nathalie Lawhead (who was fighting for YEARS to get an article about them that included sensitive inaccurate details removed) using Lawhead’s case as a cautionary tale on the “slippery slope” of article removal.
These aren't even remotely the same situations. Come the fuck on.
What happened to Ana Valens and her stories is incredibly fucked up, the articles should not have been taken down and the damage Collective Shout and payment processors have done will be widespread - but what happened to Nathalie Lawhead is ALSO incredibly fucked up and never should have been published in the first place.
There's nuance - and saying unilaterally "see I was right, no article should ever be taken down" is so fucking disingenuous.
