Am I scrolling too fiercely or

I've had relatively mixed luck with computer mice over the years. I bought a Cyborg Rat 7 when I was competitively playing Starcraft 2 during the beta, so like early-mid 2010 and I didn't need to replace it until 2021. Because I'm a weirdo who had already changed both my midi controller and my mechanical keyboard to a white color scheme, I found a white Rat 8 available once my 7 was dying and snatched it up.

The black Rat 7 was a goddamn powerhouse!! I took it to work with me every day, I took it to tournaments, I played through endless hours of Diablo II and III on it, I recorded, edited and mixed like 5 albums on it - but within a few years of owning it, the middle mouse button stopped being able to be clicked. It could scroll great, just not click for some reason I could never figure out. That said, I didn't replace it with the 8 until the cable started to give and it kept randomly disconnecting no matter what type of repairs I tried on the poor thing. Fair. It did its time.

But...about six months into owning the Rat 8+, the middle button on that one also started to randomly not work. I was getting more into Blender use at that time so this presented a problem as that's the default button for camera adjustment; I ended up remapping the precision button on the thumb-slot to the 'alt' key and using the alt+space alternative for camera. I got so used to that that I can't even really use the third button camera movement anymore on a different mouse.

All that said, the left button's switch snapped earlier this year and I wasn't able to fix it either so I was on to a new mouse. Thinking maybe it was time to not go the Rat route, I ended up with this thing:

It's a Logitech G502 Hero; I mainly wanted something same size-ish as the Rat but also with adjustable weights (My weird bugbear but I am true to myself at least) and this came highly recommended. I got it in February of this year.

I legitimately don't get what I'm doing wrong!! As mentioned, I'm not even using the third mouse button for anything anymore since I was so used to not having one! I'm just scrolling with the wheel. The wheel still works fine, but WHILE scrolling before dying permanently it started doing this thing where it would erroneously click the middle button for no reason and I had to use YMouseButtonControl to disable it until it was dead for good.

And like, what's wild to me is that the mouse that I literally beat the hell out of? That Rat 7? I get why that one broke. It was carelessly tossed in a messenger bag with a chonky-ass gaming laptop and bashed against me as I walked around places. I treated it poorly (despite it lasting the longest???) and that one is totally on me. The Rat 8 though...I rarely used the third button! I never took it anywhere! The G502? I've had it for less than seven months and it's never left the house!!

Like, what the hell, man?? What mouse behavior am I engaging in that is constantly making that middle button give up on life??
